why the taboo around talking about sex when it’s as normal a thing a person does like walking into a restaurant to have dinner?

I was having a conversation with a 22 year old who told me she never feels horny and she asked me to explain what is feeling horny. Which made me realize how much work Indian society needs to develop and broaden their thinking.
The topic of sex and masturbation is avoided in Indian house hold like Voldemort. He is dead and gone people, no longer are we afraid to utter his name.
Teenagers should be taught by parents to be comfortable in their skin and body and accept the feelings as a part of them. It is quite normal to want to do it. But never without consent and protection. This is something that should be spoken in the house. Or they might end up a broken 31 year old who wishes she could change the world by letters that form into words and words into sentences. Hoping her presence is felt and not lost among the millions out there. (IYKYK :p)
Masturbating and wanting to is something that I am pretty sure everyone reading this feels and knows about. You’d be lying if you didn’t and haven’t done it. From the conversations I’ve had so far, men are quite open about it than women. I assure you women are equally horny. I know it cause I’ve spoken to a bunch of them who were ( again IYKYK :p). But women do not open up about it. Again the taboo around speaking it, for fucks sake can we stop referring to it as you know who?
The truth? Everyone are horny. Well they are at some point, it’s all about how you behave when you are and consent, nothing should be done without consent. I do not want to go to the topic of rape because that’s something that shakes my core and I stay away from it as much as I can.
I do get why maybe Rajesh uncle and Bina aunty may not be open about it though the generation gap and all that, brought up in an Indian society where no one really talks about it even though everyone does it. Cannot really blame them cause that’s how it has been since generations. I would never imagine myself in a situation where I bring this up with my family. Even if I do the conversation might take different routes and turns and hit the dead end wall.
But why is it this way?
