Transgender rights

I wish i lived in a world where transgender was accepted as a part of the society.

Why do I see them begging for money on MG road? Why don’t I see them working at a office or anywhere else where they want to?

After reading about Elle from Heartstopper I feel so much love for her. I feel so happy that she goes to school like a regular kid and Tao falls in love with her and it’s a norm. I feel so happy to see her portrayed on the screen.

Why is a trans child not accepted and educated like any other kid in India? Or does it happen and I’m not aware of it ’cause I don’t read the news?

I wish I lived in a world where they are treated with as much love and respect as any other human being. I wish I lived in a world where they are not bullied. I wish I lived in a world where they blend in the crowd and not beg for money at traffic signals.

We don’t choose our body parts when we are born. We don’t get to choose how we look. Why is it a sin if we don’t blend in the crowd? I was bullied all my life for being different and I know more about it than anyone else.

They should get to live a life they want to. They should get to go to school, colleges and offices. They should get to travel the world if they want to. They should get to wear whatever they want based on how they identify themselves. They should get to experience love. They should be treated with care and respect.

Why are these rights taken away from them? When they didn’t do anything wrong? This is something that should’ve been given to them without fighting for it. This is something that they deserve as a human.

I wish Modi reads this and does something about it. I wish I could see the world change. But I don’t see it change no matter how many words I put out there. This is just me wishing on the stars sitting in my room hoping for a miracle. Because changing people’s mindset is the way towards improving the country.
