I was thinking about what Hazel says to Augustus about oblivion.
It used to bother me before because I always had so much to say.
So many things that happened to me that no one knew about. There was so much I wanted to add to the world.
I have this innate impulse of fixing things when it is out of place or when it doesn’t make sense or when things don’t add up.
I felt all my good days were getting wasted.
I feel differently now because I’ve said everything I’ve wanted to say.
A lot of unfair things happened to me on large scale.
The world took responsibility to fix it and helped me for which I’m forever grateful.
I wasn’t really chasing sucess and fame.
My only intention was to prove my sanity and innocence.
I had a platform to address the world, so I spoke about things that matter and helped.
The thing is,
if you feel everyone making movies and writing books about you is the dream life.
It isn’t.
I won’t deny that it does feel good and healing after the life I’ve had.
But it’s not everything.
My priorities are still the same.
I’m okay with the world moving on too.
There might come a time in the future when my advices might become outdated with the progress of the society.
There might be other pressing issues in the future and people will not think of me as much.
They will remember me as they do Michael Jackson and later forget and go about their day and life.
My point?
Oblivion is inevitable for everyone.
Maybe humans will not exist after millions of years or even in the near future, no one knows.
In that case, there will be no proof of life on earth.
All this isn’t in our hands.
My parents still remember their parents and they think about them from time to time. I remember them too.
Same way, I will think about my parents as long as I live and my nieces will remember my parents too.
And so it goes.
The only thing we can do is, do good and be good and our legacy will take care of itself.
If you have something to add to the world, do it.
Your tiny acts of kindness will not go unnoticed.
The people who are close to you and who love you will remember it always.
A stranger will think of you too if you are kind to them.
This is all that’s in our hands.
We don’t know what we are doing here or why we are here or what will happen to us after we go from here.
So many unanswered questions.
No one is going to be here forever. Everyone’s life will eventually come to an end.
We know that for sure.
Don’t cause any intentional irreversible harm.
Do your best each day.
Find peace within yourself.
Love the people close to you and others from a distance.
Even if you’ve messed up your life till now, it’s never too late to do the right thing.
Do the right thing and find peace.
So that when it’s time to go, you can go peacefully.
Whatever comes next, no one knows. So don’t think too much about it.
Everyone will have to face it one day too.
For now just focus on right here right now.
We know so much about our earth now. We’ve come so far from our ancestors.
We have the technologies and knowledge that wasn’t there before.
We can do so much good with the information that we have about our world.
Help as much as we can, improvise on what we already know and come together for the greater good.
Also, put out the dumpster fire.
