You should respect their decision and take a step back yourself.

If you keep people at arms length and learn to keep it casual in social situations, it’s going to flow like water.

When you get close to someone, these things are a part and parcel.

If it’s not working, it’s not working.

Don’t have to carry any animosity and make them your enemy.
