Note.

Growing up I didn’t really know anything about the LGBTQ community.

We didn’t really have social media back then and I had not come across any books related to it.

One day during college,

I was in the auto and a trans woman harassed me asking for money while we were on the signal.

After that incident, I was terrified whenever I saw them.

I wasn’t really educated much on it.

And because of that one incident I was scared.

I started reading LGBTQ books while working at Askaban.

Simon vs the homosapiens agenda was the first book that I read.

It’s super cute so I continued exploring more books.

That’s when I started understanding about the community and I was confused about my sexuality.

I was confused because I was not attracted to women IRL.

Later,

I read the heartstopper series and that’s when I understood about the transgender community.

It was after that that I changed and became more open.

Because I educated myself on it.

I feel when people educate themselves on the things that they don’t know about, there’s a possibility for change.

People who are transphobic are not really aware or educated on it.

That’s the reason they are the way they are.

So they should lean into curiosity and learning.

Which leads to the possibility of change.
