When I was going through hell these last 3 years,
I was going through something very serious and I was trying to stay alive and busy fighting.
So I was not really using Instagram much.
I would just see the stories of people I follow and close Instagram.
I would also post pictures and close Instagram.
Also, I was using it only to text Ginny.
I was not liking anyone’s posts and reels.
I wasn’t in the mindspace to pay attention.
I didn’t care much because there were so many things going on in my life.
My mind was fucked.
What I’m trying to say is,
When someone doesn’t like your picture,
it might mean that maybe they are dealing with problems and they are not really in a mindspace to pay attention or use Instagram much.
Don’t be so consumed by these petty social media stuff.
Likes, follow, comments, views etc.
If you are making money out of social media, then these things matter.
If you aren’t, who even cares?
I was consumed by these things during covid lockdown when I had nothing else to do.
After that I stopped giving a fuck.
I don’t even check if people liked my picture/viewed my story or not.
I stopped checking after Ginny unfollowed me because I only cared about her likes.
See,
The whole point of social media is to document your life, stay in touch with people without speaking, stand up for important causes, stay updated on what’s happening around the world and entertainment when bored.
If you are making money out of it, then you should care about things related to it.
If it’s a private account.
Try not to be consumed by these petty social media stuff.
Because who cares?
People are more important than petty social media stuff.
Make sure your priorities are in place.
There are people in this world who do things just for the sake of social media to show off.
They even get married so that they can post pictures on Instagram and show off.
They go for vacations just to take pictures and show off on their social media.
I honestly feel sorry for them.
Because their priorities and values and morals are fucked up.
Social media is not your whole life.
It’s just a medium to stay in touch with the world.
I never compare my life with people on Instagram.
I don’t feel insecure about myself as well.
Because people are just smiling for the picture, the reality is totally different.
I’m happy and content with my life and myself.
I love myself.
When you are happy and content with your life and you love yourself, you would not want someone else’s life.
I don’t know what’s there to feel jealous about.
When I see that someone is happy, I feel happy for them.
I usually lift people up.
I’m the ultimate hype person.
The content that you consume decides your mood and influences your personality and life more than you think.
So unfollow and block without guilt.
Declutter your Instagram feed and keep it positive and minimal.
Don’t keep it in a way that it overwhelms you.
If something or someone is bothering you, whatever the reason it might be,
unfollow and block.
Simple.
Keep it positive and healthy for your mind.
Don’t take pictures just so you want to show off on socials.
Take pictures because you want to remember the moment.
And post on Instagram because it’s your own personal scrapbook to document your life.
So that you can look back and reminisce on old times.
Put your phone down and touch grass.
Goodnight.
