The movie community like letterboxd etc.
Is so much more healthy and positive.
Than the book community.
The book community is toxic and aggressive.
People don’t understand the concept of difference in opinion.
Movies and books are pretty much the same.
Different books cater to different audiences.
Just like movies.
A person who enjoys horror movies won’t enjoy romance.
A person who enjoys comedy movies won’t enjoy thriller movies.
Books are the same.
If you are not enjoying a book.
You can put it down and DNF.
I don’t think you should face backlash, scrutiny and wildfire reactions for it.
Reading something because you like reading it.
Makes sense.
But reading something performatively.
And hyping it up performatively.
Because I expressed a personal opinion.
That’s where things are going wrong.
Also.
Most of the book content is shallow, baseless and surface level.
They lack depth.
Also.
It lacks originality.
Because people just copy each other.
The book community needs to stand in the corner and think and reflect upon their behaviour and actions.
