My parents have been fighting about this same thing since they got married.
Dad has a habit of cussing.
He says this malayalam word “ninde ammande”.
So every time he uses that word when he is angry or irritated.
Mom shouts at him and says, “Don’t abuse my mother.”
She takes the literal meaning of that word.
Then they fight.
It explodes.
And leaves casualties.
This has been going on since the very beginning.
I explained to mom yesterday that.
Everyone cusses.
It’s quite normal.
I asked her not to take the literal meaning of that word.
And see it for what it is.
A cuss word.
Dad is not insulting her mom.
But simply cussing.
I cuss too.
I use the “motherfucker” quite often.
Which is equivalent to that malayalam cuss word.
I don’t really mean the literal meaning when I say it.
It’s just a cuss word.
Nothing else.
I use the word “fuck” all the time.
It’s a normal word in my dictionary.
So yeah.
That ended nearly 4 decades long fight.
